The story is priceless, but this edition is worth a miss. However, I didn't let this disapointment reflect in my overall rating because that would not be fair on the book. The illustrations had no good effect and were often displayed differently to the scenes depicted in writing. The images were generally pretty, but ultimately were ruined by the models and looked silly compared to the heavy and serious setting of the story. I picked this specific copy up due to my love of dark stories and the Steampunk sub-culture but this just didn't deliver. The only downfall of this edition, for me, would sadly be the Steampunk aspect. The ending really shocked me into understanding as I saw threads finally coming together. This being said proves Shelly's writing was definitely something to be proud of. It was tremendous seeing the character of V. Upon reading this properly, outside of a school study, I found that I was to enjoy it way more than I was expecting and was surprised to learn that that, although the language used has definitely aged, especially in meaning, it still flowed beautifully in my mind as well as off the tongue, when I decided to read aloud, in the comforts of my bedroom.
